Looking for Job in Dallas, TX

Submitted by vsanchez HR on April 18, 2007 - 6:26pm. ::

Hi - I have been looking for a job in the Dallas area for few months and it has been really difficult. I find regular jobs but I am more interested in bilingual generalist (Manager) positions but I can only find few and they are far from where I live. I have tried a lot of websites but nothing seems to help. Does anyone have an idea/suggestion? Thanks in advance!

Hi vsanchez HR.

I am the sales director with LatPro.com, which is the leading job board for Hispanic and bilingual professionals. I did a quick job search on LatPro in Texas and found 16 job postings in human resources. Not all of them are in the Dallas area, but I recommend you take a look as the companies advertising on our site are specifically looking for your multicultural and bilingual skills. Even if you don't find the particular job you're looking for posted, it would be wise to register yourself and post your resume as recruiters are also searching the resume database to proactively find talented candidates. Registering will also give you the ability to set up job notifications that will alert you to new opportunities as they come up.

In addition, you should participate in job fairs where the exhibiting companies are targeting Hispanic and bilingual candidates. LatPro sponsored a job fair in Dallas on February 8, 2007 put on by the National Society for Hispanic Professionals (www.nshp.org). I realize that doesn't help you now, but there are other organizations that put on similarly targeted job fairs. I can't vouch for their quality, but it's something to look into. NSHP will also likely repeat a job fair in Dallas in 2008.

Getting involved with Hispanic chambers and associations will also give you some other contacts that you can network with. NSHP is one of those you could join.

Hope that helps.
